Domestic Violence Awareness Month
The wide-ranging impact of domestic violence on individuals, families and society as a whole has been well-publicized. And yet, say victims' advocates, the problem continues to grow nationwide, but especially in Alaska. October is national domestic violence awareness month, and to commemorate the occasion, Advocates for Victims of Violence in Valdez, which is now under new leadership, has several events planned throughout the month aimed at preventing domestic violence in the community.
