Avalanche Observers
Field observations are a critical component for avalanche forecasters in producing accurate and timely bulletins. The Alaska Avalanche Information Center often relies on volunteer observers for snow, avalanche and weather condition information used to create such bulletins. The center is planning a workshop this week intended to provide back country travelers the baseline skills necessary to become observers and accurately report field observations.
