Democracy Crisis

In the coming days or weeks the U.S. Supreme Court will release its decision in Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission, a challenge to the McCain-Feingold campaign finance law. In response, a national coalition of public interest, community, and business organizations has prepared a campaign to overrule what they anticipate the Court's decision will be: that the American people are powerless to stop corporations from using corporate funds to influence state and federal elections. The Campaign to Legalize Democracy's goal is to build a popular movement supporting passage of a constitutional amendment that affirms human rights over corporate rights. One member of the coalition, Cordova author and activist Riki Ott, is using her national book tour in part to drum up support for the movement. KCHU's Erik Wander has more:
