Heavy Loads - Harris Speaks Out
State House Representative John Harris is applauding state efforts to exempt commercial fishermen who haul heavy loads, such as boats or gear, from certain commercial driving conditions. The Valdez Republican had previously vowed to introduce legislation this session when the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities began citing fishermen last summer for failure to comply with federal and state commercial driving requirements when hauling loads weighing up to 26,000 pounds on public roads.
