Prince William Sound Pinks on Record Pace
After a lackluster-at-best 2009, this year’s
commercial pink salmon season in Prince William Sound is on near record pace heading
into the home stretch. The Alaska Department of Fish and Game says the pace has
been so brisk that it’s left processors struggling to keep up. Some of that work
is being farmed out to Kodiak and Southeast, where business has been slower, and
with daily harvest numbers still running in the 2-million-fish range, the
record for Prince William Sound should be within reach. KCHU’s Erik Wander has
