Trans-Alaska Pipeline Out of Service for Spill - 5/27/10

The 800-mile trans-Alaska pipeline remained out of service Wednesday, after as many as several thousand barrels of crude oil spilled into a massive tank and overflowed into a secondary containment area the previous day about 100 miles south of Fairbanks. According to the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation, the oil was completely contained as responders continued to take a cautious approach and producers were ordered to reduce production. And Alyeska Pipeline Service Co. expected to have the pipeline back in full operation by midday today. KCHU's Erik Wander has more:
