Female Eagle Released After Recovery From Crash - 8/6/10
A small group of people gathered at Old Town in Valdez earlier this week to witness the release back into the wild of a female bald eagle that survived a beak-first nosedive into a hard snowbank in what biologists described as a courtship display that went awry. Among those gathered at Old Town was the Valdez man who in late March rescued the eagle, took the bird home and kept it warm and comfortable in a crate—thinking at the time it would die.
