Fireweed 400 Bike Race Taking Place This Weekend - 7/9/10
Traffic
will be heavy—at least the two-wheeled variety—along the Richardson Highway
heading into Valdez for the next couple of days, when as many as 500 cyclists
come to town for the Fireweed 400 bike race. The first wave of hardcore riders
will begin arriving this evening, and throughout the night, before turning
around and heading back up the road to complete the 400-mile race. And hundreds
more will be completing a 200-mile version of the race in Valdez on Saturday. KCHU’s
