House District 12 Race Still Close

The race for the Republican nomination in House District 12 remained too close to call Tuesday. But the leader in the race gained a little breathing room after a large portion of the nearly 600 absentee and questioned ballots were counted. The three candidates vying for the nomination came out of election day last week in a three-way, statistical tie—with just eight votes separating first place from third. By Tuesday evening, Eric Feige of Chickaloon led Don Haase of Valdez 781 to 762. Pete Fellman of Delta Junction was third with 746. Election officials say however there may still be more than 100 ballots yet to be counted, and that it could be another week before the final results are known. KCHU’s Erik Wander reports:
