by Tony Gorman
Tailgate Alaska wrapped up this week with two marquee events. Weather conditions prompted officials to move the World Freeriding Championships to the same day of the King of the Hill. Dan Vandermeulen was the winner of the Freeriding Championships. He skied his way to 501 combined points. He beat out Greg Stafford and Rhett Foster for the top spot.
Will Brommelsiek and Holly Enderle were the big winners in the King of the Hill snowboarding competition. Brommelsiek edged former national halfpipe competitor Ross Baker and Scott Sheer for the win. Enderle was the only rider in the Women's Division to score 400 combined points. Her closest competition was Iris Lazzareschi and Rachel Sheidow, who scored in the 390's.
