Cordova crew assists with plane search

A Cordova-based helicopter crew assisted the Alaska Air National Guard in locating a missing plane in the Prince William Sound.
The Air National Guard's 11th Rescue Coordination Center received a report from the Federal Aviation Administration after 10 p.m. Monday that a small aircraft traveling form Yakutat to Anchorage was overdue.
A Coast Guard HH-60 Jayhawk Helicopter from Cordova and an Alaska Air National Guard HC-130 Helicopter began searching for the plane early Tuesday morning. The aircraft was located on Cape Yakataga around 10:30 a.m.
The two individuals on board were later taken to Cordova. Their names were not released.
