The candidates for elections in Valdez and Whittier have been announced.
In Valdez, three incumbents and one challenger are vying for three seats on the Valdez City Council. Council members Dorothy Moore, Karen Ables, and Mike Wells are seeking three more years on the Council. Former City Councilman Rick Long is the lone challenger in the race.
The scenario is similar for the Valdez School Board. School Board President Dan Walker, Anita Fannin, and recently-appointed Dawn Farmer have filed for re-election bids. Former long-time Board member Dolores Gard is the only challenger in the race.
In Whittier, Billy Collins and David Pinquoch are running for Seat E. The seat is currently filled by Shannon Tolman, who is running against Arlen Arneson for Seat F. Mayor Lester Lunceford is currently in the seat. He is not seeking re-election.
Both elections are slated for Tuesday, October 4th.
