Huskies stun Bucs with 4th quarter comeback

For the second year in the a row, Delta shocked Valdez in the fourth quarter.  The Huskies scored 12 unanswered points in the last seconds of the game to slip past the Bucs, 18-12, in a Labor Day weekend match-up.

Valdez got off to a quick start with a 28-yard touchdown run from Jesse Deaton in the first quarter.  Delta responded when quarterback Caleb McLaren tossed a 17-yard touchdown pass to Craig Dvorak.  The Bucs would go into halftime with a 12-6 lead after quarterback Max Duff connected with running back Brandon Hursh for a 34-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter.

The Huskies' offense would wake up when McLaren hit Dvorak for a 96-yard touchdown pass to start the fourth quarter.  With 10 seconds left on the clock, McLaren found receiver Charlie Tippen in the end zone for a 17-yard touchdown to cap off a stunning comeback.

McLaren completed 14 of 26 passes for 228 and three touchdowns for the game.  Dvorak hauled in nine receptions for 191 yards and two touchdowns.

Deaton turned in his second 100-yard rushing game of the season.  He finished the game with 19 carries for 108 yards and a touchdown.  Duffy completed 5 of 16 passes for 59 yards and a touchdown and no interceptions. 

The loss drops the Bucs to 1-2 in the Greatland Conference and 1-3 overall.  They will travel to Fairbanks this weekend to play Eielson.  Kickoff time is Saturday at 1 p.m.
