Copper Center Lodge destroyed by blaze

By Tony Gorman

One of Alaska's historical roadhouses was destroyed by fire over the weekend.  Glenn-Rich Fire and Rescue responded to the blaze at the Copper Center Lodge early Sunday morning.  Firefighters were unable to save the 116 year-old roadhouse.  The cause of the fire is under investigation.  This is the second time the Copper Center Lodge has experience a fire.  Known as the Copper Center Roadhouse at the time, the lodge was rebuilt following a fire in 1928.  The lodge was on the National Register of Historic Places.
