Lady Bucs to play for fourth place, Bucs ousted by Nome

The Valdez girls’ basketball team extended its tournament stay thanks to a dominating performance from Marian Wamsley.  The sophomore had a career-high 41 points and 17 rebounds in the Lady Bucs’ 77-63 win over Nome this afternoon.  The Lady Bucs will play Houston in the fourth place game at 9:00 a.m. tomorrow.

The Valdez boys’ hoops team is out of the 3A State Tournament.  In a rematch of the Elks Tournament final, the Bucs fell to Nome, 62-45.  The Nanooks’ Dominique Hall led all scorers with 27 points.  Sean Duffy and Levi Auble each had 11 points for the Bucs.
