Alex Derifield’s game-high 18 points were not enough to overcome Sitka in the first round of the 3A State Tournament.  The Lady Wolves edged Valdez, 37-34, behind Sid Riggs 12 points.  The Lady Bucs plays Nome, today, at 1:15 p.m.

Earlier in the day, the Valdez boys’ team was routed by Mount Edgecumbe, 68-46.  The Braves’ John Pederson led all scorers with 31 points.  Levi Auble had 18 points for the Bucs.  The Bucs play Nome this morning at 9:15.
