Tenured Valdez teachers get new contracts

By Tony Gorman

Tenured teachers in the Valdez City School District have new contracts.  The Valdez School Board voted unanimously during Monday night’s meeting to re-up the contract to the educators  for 2013-2014 school year.  The total amount for the contracts is over $3.1 million dollars.  School Board member Dan Walker recused himself from the voted due to his spouse being an employee of the Valdez High School.

The Board also voted 5-2 to release the contracts of administrators in the district.  The salaries released show what they are making for the 2013 school year and will make for the 2014 school year.   School Board members Anita Fanin and Dolores Gard, who teleconferenced into the meeting voted no on the item.
