By Tony Gorman

A raven was the cause of a system-wide power outage in Valdez and the Copper River Valley Wednesday afternoon.  Copper Valley Electric Association says the bird damaged a significant piece of equipment at the Solomon Gulch Hydropower Substation.  Crews responded and restored power to the majority of CVEA members within 27 minutes.  The total length of the outage was an hour and 27 minutes.
