Candidates for Valdez City Election announced

For the second straight year, the Valdez City Election will have a huge candidate field.  According to City Hall, thirteen candidates will vye for three seats on the Valdez City Council.  Five candidates will compete for two seats on the Valdez School Board.

Mike Wells and Karen Ables are looking for re-election bids on the City Council.  They will face James “Hotai” Williams, David Lyle, Nancy Lethcoe, Nicole Tift, Wanda Clark, Nate Smith, Rich Long, Ruth Knight, Selah Bauer, and Kyle Hoffman in the election.  Dorothy Moore is not seeking re-election.

Current School Board president Steve Brockman is the lone incumbent in the School Board race.  He will be running against Jessica Vincent, BJ Williams, Alan Sorum, and Joe Prax.  Toni Balowski is not returning to the School Board.

The Valdez City Election will take place on Tuesday, October 8th.
