High school cross-country ski teams okay after Richardson Hwy accident

A high school cross-country ski team is okay after its bus was struck by a semi-truck on the Richardson Highway Friday morning.  Alaska State Troopers say the accident involving the Kenai Central and Skyview cross-country ski team happened at mile 55 of the Richardson Highway at 11:30 a.m. 

The bus driver sustained serious injuries.  No serious injuries were reported for the 49 students on board.  The team was heading to Valdez for this weekend’s Valdez Invitational Meet.

The Valdez School District has sent buses to the scene and is transporting the students to Valdez.
