Alaska Sealife Center honors Stan Stephens

By Tony Gorman

Stan Stephens was best known for his wildlife and glacier charters in the Prince William Sound during his lifetime.  He was also known for his work to improve oil spill response and contributions to the management of the area’s coastal and ocean resources.  Before he died last year, Stephens was honored for his numerous contributions and work.  Now, he can another to add to his collection.  The Alaska Sealife Center has posthumously awarded Stephens with the Walter J and Ermalee Hickel Lifetime Achievement Award.  The award was endowed by the late governor and his wife ten years ago for such contributions.
